The village where you now stand was named for noted colonial resident Humphry Marshall, who lived when Marshallton served as a stopover on the market route to Philadelphia.
For generations, the settlement reflected William Penn’s vision of a “Greene Country Towne,” a cross-roads and community-gathering place centered around Martin’s Tavern and the Bradford Friends Meeting.
Remarkably, Marshallton retains many early structures and much of its colonial era rural charm today.
